The Symphony Orchestra is for all instruments from Grade 5 upwards. Players are usually at secondary school.
We are pleased to introduce our new conductor Tom Smith.
Conductor - Tom Smith
Tom Smith graduated from the RSAMD in 2010 with a Master of Music with distinction having won the Governors Prize for Brass and the Prize for Excellence in Brass. His professional experience to date includes orchestral, contemporary, commercial, and soloist work across the UK, Europe and North America. As a soloist he has featured on Radio Scotland and performed at the contemporary music festival "Verona Risuona" in Italy.
Tom plays regularly with professional orchestras including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Concert Orchestra and Scottish Festival Orchestra and as a commercial artist and session player he has worked with some of Scotland's top bands including “Belle and Sebastian”, “Idlewild”, “Admiral Fallow” and "God Help The Girl".
Tom has worked with some of Scotland's top Youth Orchestras, including the National Children's Orchestra of Scotland, West of Scotland Wind Orchestra, Fife Youth Orchestra, Kirkshaws Neighbourhood centre, and Kilgraston School's String Orchestra.
